The only other known communication was a phone call from American flight attendant Madeline Sweeney, who called supervisors back at Logan to report that hijackers had slashed a passenger and two other flight attendants, and were in the cockpit. Asked where the plane was at the moment, she uttered her last words: "I see water and buildings. Oh my God! Oh my God!"
I don't know why I keep returning to these images, facts, and tales. It's already had a much bigger effect on my life than any other single event, and sometimes I fear that continuing to masticate on it is going to change my entire personality.
