Okay this is not like a normal San Francisco winter, when the usual weather is 40-50, drab, and probably rainy. We've had great weather so far, daytime temps in the mid-60's and not a cloud in the sky. We brought totally the wrong clothes, shoes in particular. After five minutes of tromping along Ocean Beach in our boots, we decided screw this, and took them off. Then I immediately wished I had though to bring my sandals, because after the walk on the beach and then hanging around barefoot outside this cafe in the sunshine, doing the crossword puzzle and drinking coffee, putting the boots back on for the Muni ride back downtown was really disappointing. I felt like a little kid being called back in the house by mom.
We did pack too much into the day, though, which is our usual downfall while on vacation. But we're done a little early tonight which will let us relax in the hotel room (the famous Plaza Hotel, swank). Tomorrow I start my symposium so I'm sorta back in work mode. My wife has the whole day to hang out in the city tomorrow, the lucky bitch, and then gets to join us for the Dinner at The Regency.
So far the only thing that's really bothering me is that, being Lent, I'm unable to partake of any of the ample free booze that's been flowing. It's making me quite cranky.
