ugh, on sleep schedules

Two nights ago I was up until 5am working on URHnet and other pressing things. Then I had to be up at 7:30 for a 9am meeting.

Last night I was exhausted so tried to go to bed at midnight, but couldn't sleep, so I read until I was tired, which turned out to be 1:30am. I have no meetings today so I had my alarm set for 8:30, but I was awake at 4:30 for a bit and then again at 6:30. By then Kathy was up and I had been meaning to ask her a question, so I got up and chatted with her for a bit while she got ready for teaching. I also tried to pay back the really cool support she was being for me last night: she was really nervous about teaching such a big class and I tried to be encouraging and supportive to her in return.

But by then I was awake so I got up and started working myself. But now it's 9:30 and I can hardly keep my eyes open again. I'm tempted to sleep another hour but I'm not sure that'd be such a good idea.

It should be easier to simply go to bed at night and get up in the morning, no?

I hesitate to call this spam because it doesn't appear to be exactly MASS mailed, but it's still obviously canned, and sort of offensively so, to boot.

Hello Charlie,

It was a pleasure leaving you a voicemail today, I hope this information regarding
 Direct Midrange Systems, Inc.
finds you well.

The message went on to describe all the awesome things they could sell me, like Cisco gear on the cheap and refurbished Sun equipment. No thanks.

I bet it was a "pleasure" to leave me voicemail.

Time to leave to preside over yet another flying club meeting. I hope no one wants to argue endlessly over which plane to sell. There are pros and cons to each of the three. Someone do the research, make a recommendation, and let's vote on it. We don't need to take hours of time arguing about it.

I'm a cranky president.
