"24 hours of A Christmas Story", starting at 8pm on Christmas Eve, on TNT.
Apparently one of those Christmas classics like Charlie Brown or the Grinch, I had never heard of this movie before it came on one night near Christmas when I was in Carbondale at the home of the parents of my then-partner, about eight or ten years ago. I was extremely tired, as I often was on those visits, and I remember mostly sleeping through it, with memories of it only from drifting awake for a handful of random scenes. I remember the blond kid with the glasses, and that the movie was somehow about him, and some surreal stuff about Santa Claus, and, what, a much-coveted gun? I really can't remember.
But actually, I'm kind of fond of knowing this film only from that delirious, fragmented, half-conscious memory. I don't think I ever want to see it and spoil this memory. Which is weird, because I usually dislike shrouded, incomplete, ethereal dreams.
