blissfully unaware

Today is the huge-ass rivalry Michigan-Illinois game. We have had a really shitty team for as long as I can remember so I'm really not paying much attention to it. Actually, the fact that tens of thousands of people show up every couple of Saturdays to watch our team predictably lose is a source of wry humor to me.

I live about a mile and a half from the stadium, and just now saw a lone man carrying ever-so-patriotic Orange-and-Blue parephrenalia and fold-up tailgate seats, walking slowly with his head down past my house away from the stadium. Aha, I thought, another grand embarrassment in the making.

But then I checked the score online and we're actually winning by one point at the moment, about halfway through the third quarter. Weird.

Maybe that guy got into a big fight with his girlfriend or something. Or got ejected from the game.
