Our Operation Center installed a "status board" which, oddly enough, is a scrolling bi-color LED display like you see in airports and bus stations. Why they did not use projection TV's to show a much richer set of information I am not sure.
Not to be outdone, our Network Maintenance manager caught a really cheap deal on Amazon for 42" LCD televisions with DVI inputs. Now both their lab and the Network Engineering office sport big, bright, impressive network status displays. We do need to find a place to hang ours; it looks a little weird where it sits now with a tiny keyboard in front of it. But hey, fun toys!
I thought I'd post a picture since some people seemed incredulous enough at the 24" widescreen I got for my desk a couple of years ago.
