My new stove arrived Friday! I'm really happy with it. I still am grumpy about not getting the spiffy directly-enter-your-cooking-temperature control panel, but jeez, for $100 I just, just, just couldn't justify it.

So far I really like it. Everything on the top disassembles trivially for easy cleaning, all the burners light right up, it boils a mean kettle of water, and the oven made an AMAZINGLY rich pan of brownies (okay actually Kate made them, but it did bake them accurately and evenly).

My favorite feature so far is a "Sabbath" mode, presumably so that practicing Jews can set this mode during the day on Friday and then have it fire up by itself on Shabbat, similar to the "Shabbat mode" that many elevators in Israel have. It isn't documented, and I didn't mess with it, so I have no idea how it actually works, but I did find the setting amusing.

I can't wait to make a batch of "40 cloves and 1 chicken!

Oh yes. Sorry. Just a bit about spending some mad money on early Christmas presents for myself. And for Kate. And for you.
